Dear friends of the Cäcilienchor,

Thomas Hohmann it has been quite some time since we last presented you a leaflet for the upcoming concerts. In the meantime be wrangled with pandemic regulations, vaccination certificates, health concepts and other matters concerning the pandemic. This won't end in 2022, but it won't occupy us as much as in the previous two years. Now, we want to look forward to our passion concerts in April, Bach's motets in May, César Franck's Les Béatitudes at the Alte Oper in October and to Händel's Messiah in December and hope to welcome you at one of these concerts.

Yours sincerely
Thomas Hohmann
Chairman of the board

Dear friends of the Cäcilienchor,

Christian KabitzIt is a pity how rarely Bach's Christmas oratory could be heard last December - canceled or postponed like so many other things. All the while a sentence from the opening jubilation choir could be a beacon of hope for the fresh year of 2022:

Lasset das Zagen,
verbannet die Klage,
stimmet voll Jauchzen und Fröhlichkeit an!
Stop the fearing,
banish the lamenting,
intone with rejoice and cheerfulness!

There was much gnashing and wailing for it never more difficult and yet more important as in these times of the pandemic to have choir rehearsals. With distance, in partial casts, with tests, possibly even only online and remote.

But we need the arts, the self-reflection, the creativity to generate new ideas and to think of new things that might sound crazy at first glance!

The Cäcilienchor invites you to join him in rejoicing and jubilation for the old, yet so appropriate choirs of Bach, Händel and Franck.

Stay well-disposed for the Cäcilienchor and its music!

Yours sincecrely
Christian Kabitz
