Show greetings ...

Dear friends of the Cäcilienchor,

Thomas Hohmann This year's concerts represent remembrance, thankful parting, but also some upraising.

Remembrance we will bear for our members that were persecuted in the Third Reich with our concert in March in the Katharinenkirche and again in October in the Heiliggeistkirche; remembrance we also offer to the upraising of democracy in Germany with our concert in May on the Römerberg in celebration of 175 years of German National Assembly.

Thankfully we send a farewell to the general musical director of the Frankfurt opera, Sebastian Weigle, who will pass his responsibilities to a successor this summer. As part of the Museum Concerts he will conduct the choirs from the choir's association with Bruckner's Te Deum in the Alte Oper Frankfurt in June 2023.

Upraising we will celebrate with restarting the A-cappella concerts in the House of Choirs with a program by Kreisler & amp; Kreisler in September and with our christmas concert with Händels Messiah in December in the Dreikönigskirche.

Look forward to the 2023 concert year with us and stay our faithful companions.

With best regards, your
Thomas Hohmann
Chairman

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Christian KabitzDo we return to normality? Are we are allowed to stand and sit together again, in rooms, though unheated, but churches nonetheless? The "Caecilie" has shown more than other choirs in times of crisis, how crucial performing live music is. We had online rehearsals via Zoom and specialized concerts in the smallest formations possible. This wasn't always easy, but is has brought the choir forward a great deal. We now know that even just 18 singers can sound great and we cherish the experience of a large ensemble even more.

For the first time in almost 40 years the 2023 program will do without Bach, but with motets by Brahms, Händel's Messiah and Bruckner's Te Deum. But "specials" have become our signature pieces, and in regard of those we have a journey back in time to 1848 for a big open-air event on the Römerberg and a rendez-vous with »Kreisler & Kreisler« with the best songs of the renowned comedian and author Georg Kreisler.

I am so happy that my Cäcilienchor has joined me on these twisted paths through the crisis with so much optimism and I look forward to well-knowns and yet-to-discovers – and more from Bach in 2024 as the latest!

Yours
Christian Kabitz
